Because PDO threads are one of the most misunderstood treatments in aesthetic medicine.
Many people think threads can replace a facelift or produce dramatic results overnight. The truth is, they're designed to provide subtle lifting, stimulate collagen, and improve skin support in the right candidate.
Before you consider PDO threads, I want you to understand how they work, what they can realistically achieve, who is a good candidate, and who isn't. An informed patient will always make better decisions than someone influenced by social media or unrealistic expectations.
That's why every treatment page begins with Your Questions Answered
-
The lifting effect typically lasts 12–18 months depending on the type of threads used, your skin quality, and the aging process. Collagen stimulation continues even after the threads dissolve.
-
PDO threads are not a comfortable procedure.
At No Pain All Gain Spa, we use advanced pain management to make the treatment as comfortable as possible.
This includes a prescription-strength topical numbing cream, followed by 2% lidocaine buffered with sodium bicarbonate to significantly reduce the sting during injections.
For patients who want additional comfort, Pro-Nox® (laughing gas) is also available to help reduce anxiety and discomfort throughout the procedure.
-
You will notice an immediate lifting effect after treatment.
However, collagen production gradually improves the skin over the next 2–6 months.
-
PDO threads are best for patients with mild to moderate skin laxity who want natural-looking lifting without surgery.
-
Smooth PDO threads do not lift tissue. They stimulate collagen, improve skin quality, soften fine lines, and provide subtle support beneath the skin.

At No Pain All Gain Spa, we charge by the treatment area—not by the number of threads.
Why? Because every face is different. One patient may need only a few threads to achieve the desired result, while another may require significantly more in the same treatment area.
Charging per thread can make pricing unpredictable and unnecessarily expensive.
Our approach allows us to use exactly the number and type of threads needed to achieve the best possible outcome without you worrying about the cost of each individual thread.
During your consultation, we will evaluate your facial anatomy, discuss your goals, and provide a customized treatment plan with transparent pricing before any treatment begins.

Most patients return to normal daily activities within 24–72 hours. Mild swelling, bruising, tenderness, and tightness are normal and typically improve over the first 1–2 weeks.
At No Pain All Gain Spa, I provide every patient with a detailed post-treatment protocol designed to maximize comfort and protect your results.
My recommendations include:
• Taking acetaminophen (Tylenol®) as directed for the first few days if needed for discomfort. I generally recommend avoiding ibuprofen, naproxen, and other anti-inflammatory medications unless medically necessary, because the normal inflammatory response plays an important role in collagen production and healing.
• Sleeping on your back for approximately 6 weeks. I recommend a specialized cervical pillow to help prevent rolling onto your side while sleeping.
• Wearing a supportive facial compression garment around the jawline as instructed. This helps support the repositioned tissue during the initial healing period.
• Avoiding excessive facial movements, vigorous exercise, dental procedures, facial massages, and sleeping on your side during the early healing phase.
Following these recommendations helps protect the threads while your tissues heal and new collagen develops, giving you the best opportunity for a beautiful, long-lasting result.
-
Yes.
PDO threads reposition existing tissue and stimulate your own collagen, creating subtle, natural-looking rejuvenation.
-
PDO threads improve mild to moderate laxity but cannot remove excess skin or reposition deep facial structures like surgery.
-
Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive facial movements, dental work, facial massages, and sleeping on your side for about 2 weeks to allow the threads to anchor properly.
-
Yes. P
DO threads are commonly combined with dermal fillers, neurotoxins, PRP/PRF, HIFU, RF microneedling, and collagen stimulators for more comprehensive, natural-looking results.
-
Most lifting procedures require only one treatment session.
Smooth PDO threads may be repeated periodically to maintain collagen stimulation.

THE BIGGEST MISCONCEPTION
PDO threads are not a facelift.
They're designed for mild to moderate skin laxity, helping reposition tissue and stimulate collagen for natural-looking improvement.
Choosing the right candidate is just as important as the procedure itself.
More threads don't automatically create a better lift. The quality of the placement is far more important than the number of threads used.
THINK OF IT LIKE AN ANCHOR.
Each tiny barb acts like a miniature anchor. Alone they do very little. Together they gently grip tissue, allowing the thread to reposition and support the skin.
WHY
BI-DIRECTIONAL?
Each side of the thread grips tissue in the opposite direction, creating balanced support from both ends. This distributes tension more evenly and helps achieve a stable, natural-looking lift.
More threads don't automatically create a better lift. The quality of the placement is far more important than the number of threads used.
WHY DOES VECTOR PLACEMENT MATTER?
The direction of the thread determines the direction of the lift. Proper vector placement follows your facial anatomy to create balanced, natural-looking support - not an over-pulled appearance.
The thread isn't tied to anything.
Once placed beneath the skin, the tiny barbs gently anchor into the tissue, creating support from within rather than being attached to bone or muscle.
PDO THREADS | BROW
PDO THREADS can provide a subtle brow lift by elevating the lateral brow and opening the eye area without surgery.
PDO THREADS | JOWLS
PDO THREADS can reposition and support sagging tissue in the lower face, helping reduce the appearance of jowls and improve jawline definition.
PDO THREADS | MARIONETTE LINES
Strategic PDO THREADS placement can soften marionette lines and improve lower-face support while maintaining natural facial movement.
PDO THREADS | NECK
PDO THREADS may improve neck laxity, stimulate collagen production, and enhance neck contour over time.
The masseter is one of the strongest muscles in your body. Overactivity can create a wider jawline, teeth grinding, and jaw tension.
The platysma contracts every time you talk, smile, or make facial expressions. Over time, repeated movement can make vertical neck bands more noticeable.
Hyperhidrosis affects millions of people and isn't caused by poor hygiene. It results from overactive sweat glands and can occur even when you're cool and relaxed.
Your jaw muscles never "bulge" overnight. Years of chewing, clenching, and grinding gradually change the shape of your face.
